Relationship between Teaching Effectiveness, Satisfaction of Clinical Practice and Clinical Performance Ability of Nursing Students in Clinical Competence

Abstract
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between teaching effectiveness and satisfaction of clinical practice which improve the clinical performance of nursing college students and to develop a program of nursing education which can enhance the clinical performance of nursing students.

Methods : A cross-sectional survey was conducted on a sample of 199 students enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate nursing program at one college located in Gangwon-do and two universities at Gyeonggi-do, with a practicum experience
at least one semester. Data were collected by convenience sampling using self-reported questionnaires that consisted of general characteristics, teaching efficiency, satisfaction of clinical practice clinical performance ability. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and Multiple regression analysis.

Results : The results showed that the satisfaction of clinical practice had a positive effect on clinical performance, and the effectiveness of instruction showed a positive effect on clinical performance. Clinical practicum satisfaction and Teaching Effectiveness had an impact on clinical performance of 42.8%.

Conclusion : Therefore, in order to enhance the clinical performance of nursing college students and to nurse competent
nurses on the basis of the results of this study, the optimal clinical training education program should be achieved by improving the satisfaction of clinical practice and teaching efficiency of nursing college students.
